My Book Takes Center Stage at New Delhi World Book Fair 2025
Does my new book Doing Business in Germany: How to Work Successfully with Germans really take center stage at New Delhi World Book Fair 2025? No, of course not. But the fact that my book on German business culture is featured for an Indian audience is mindblowing enough.

I’m not an engineer or IT person, but I am very much aware of the prestigious imprints my book is surrounded by. Since I discovered them at the Frankfurt Bookfair a couple of years ago, I have been a huge fan of No Starch Press. Having my book cover in a close neighborhood to one of their publications is just incredible.
A Personal Journey of Cultural Insights
When I first attended the New Delhi World Book Fair as an intern with Tata McGraw-Hill in 2002, I never imagined that one day, my own book would be featured at this prestigious event. This year, my book Doing Business in Germany: How to Work Successfully with Germans is being presented by Shroff Publishers & Distributors from Navi Mumbai, and I’m thrilled!
As a business development consultant, I’ve poured my years of experience into this book, creating a comprehensive guide that goes beyond traditional business manuals. My goal was to provide professionals with more than just theoretical knowledge—I wanted to offer real, actionable insights into the nuanced world of German business culture.
The rich experiences of business people from all over the world make the book quite exceptional
Collecting ideas and material for the first edition of my book, Doing Business in Germany, I thought it would be nice to include some “outsiders’” perspectives and stories.

To find out what others find typical (or exceptional) about Germany, I asked people in my network—that is, mostly international business people or Germans who travel frequently or have been working abroad for at least some time—questions like “How can you make a German happy?” or “What do you struggle with when it comes to what Germans think is normal?”
The answers were overall very much in line with what I had expected (e.g., hinting at certain cultural dimensions or cultural standards that have been discussed extensively in other works); however, some aspects of (mainstream) Germans’ “code of conduct” for me appeared in new, or at least clearer, light.
For the new chapter How to Make or Break your Career in a German Work Environment (2nd edition), I asked expats and “insiders” to complete sentences like “Had I only known before moving (or returning) to Germany that…” or “What seems to annoy my German colleagues is when…”
One of my favorites: “Germans could learn from other countries …”
Curious about what makes Germans tick?
Check out Doing Business in Germany: How to Work Successfully with Germans, available as print copy and eBook on Amazon and probably any major online bookstore. For readers in the Indian Subcontinent, ordering directly from Shroff Publishers & Distributors’ online store is probably even better than ordering from Amazon India.
A Proud Moment at a Prestigious Fair

Being published alongside renowned publishers like O’Reilly Media or Rheinwerk Computing at the New Delhi World Book Fair is truly a career highlight. Shroff Publishers, with their impressive track record of representing top international technical and business publishers, has been instrumental in bringing my work to a global audience.
Of course, my book is not “just” a book on German business culture for Indians. It is an essential companion for any professional looking to succeed in the German market.
Don’t let cultural misunderstandings cost you time, money, and opportunities—arm yourself with the knowledge to thrive in the German business landscape.
What Indian Readers Say about “Doing Business in Germany: How to Work Successfully with Germans”
Some reviews highlight why Doing Business in Germany is the perfect book on German business culture for Indians.
Books in this category are full of dull statistics. This book is different. The author’s narrative is interwoven through all the facts presented here. Even geography and economy of Germany become interesting to read. The chapter on German history is concise and truthful. The illustrations and anecdotes make it a racy read. I was hooked from the Preface itself and the reading made me recall my few meetings with Germans and I understood the few awkward moments. The author uses several Indian situations. She has many contacts in India. Her treatment of loaded cultural issues, with their undercurrents of confusion, hostility and hurt, is deft. The book is light but packs a punch. I whole-heartedly recommend it.

With the unhindered march of globalization and demographic development, immigration and integration of foreign employees in Germany are hot topics today. The new chapter in this book asks and answers precisely those questions that foreign employees will have. A must-read for every foreign professional who wants to make a successful career in Germany.
